Torrential Rains Dampen International Yoga Day Spirit in Kashmir, Disrupting PM Modi’s Event at Dal Lake

Nature's Downpour Puts a Damper on Kashmir's International Yoga Day Celebrations Led by PM Modi

Srinagar, 21-06-2024 : On Friday, early morning rainfall significantly disrupted the International Yoga Day celebrations in Kashmir. Officials reported that the inclement weather affected various events planned across the region, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was set to lead the main celebrations along the picturesque banks of Dal Lake.

The primary yoga event was scheduled to commence at 6:30 am at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC). However, moderate to heavy rainfall was recorded throughout the Valley, creating challenges for conducting the planned open-air yoga sessions. The adverse weather conditions particularly impacted the area around Dal Lake, the designated venue for Prime Minister Modi’s participation in the main event.

Despite the meticulous planning, the persistent heavy rain made it difficult to proceed with the outdoor activities as intended. Officials noted that the ongoing downpour around Dal Lake posed a significant obstacle to the smooth execution of the International Yoga Day celebrations, necessitating adjustments to the planned events.
