Srinagar, 19-02-2024 : The local trade industry in Jammu & Kashmir eagerly anticipates Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s forthcoming visit, urging his attention towards addressing unemployment issues and fostering an environment conducive to business operations within the valley.
In a statement released on Monday, the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) expressed its optimism regarding the Prime Minister’s visit coinciding with the inauguration of significant projects crucial for the region’s development. Emphasizing the longstanding hindrances posed by inadequate infrastructure and insufficient industry support, the KCCI urged the implementation of the “Ease of Doing Business” initiative in the Union Territory.
Acknowledging the Prime Minister’s past consideration of their recommendations, the KCCI underscored the urgent need for strategies essential to the comprehensive advancement of Jammu & Kashmir, particularly given the escalating unemployment rates.
Highlighting the detrimental effects of inadequate infrastructure and inconsistent industrial policies on local industries, the KCCI stressed the imperative of overcoming these obstacles for sustainable growth and development.
Moreover, the KCCI underscored the pressing need for the expansion and enhancement of the Srinagar Airport to accommodate the escalating influx of tourists, citing current operational constraints.
Proposing subsidies for the installation of solar power systems for commercial entities akin to domestic installations, the KCCI advocated for sustainable energy solutions to mitigate environmental impact.
Additionally, the trade body urged special attention from the Prime Minister towards fostering innovation, supporting startups, promoting women’s development, and bolstering sectors like horticulture and handicrafts, alongside prioritizing information technology initiatives.
With these recommendations, the trade industry hopes to garner support and initiatives from the government to facilitate economic growth and prosperity in Jammu & Kashmir.
