Jammu: 06.12.2024: Cadre of All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organisations/DOM/NSYF and followers of Bharat Ratna Dr B R Ambedkar assembled at Ambedkar Chowk, Jammu, commemorated the role of Baba Sahib for drafting Indian Constitution through which fundamental rights were granted to each Indian based on Liberty, Equality and Fraternity, Freedom. Participants garlanded the Statute of Baba Sahib and made commitment to save the Constitution.
Constitutionalism ensures that equal rights are enjoyed by equals. It is because of Ambedkar that we have rights today. But sadly there is an attempt to dilute constitutional rights. Religious freedom is a fundamental right but recent instances of fanatic religious nationalism has posed a threat to the multi-religious society of India. Furthermore, reservation for the vulnerable sections is being compromised by its dilution. Thus, it becomes important to come forth to protect the Constitution.
Ramesh Sarmal State Vice President Confederation said on the occasion that On this day, when we are remembering Bharat Ratna Baba Sahib Ambedkar Ji on his Mahaparinirvan, I urge all of you to reflect on the true meaning of liberty, equality and fraternity. When the Constitution of India was framed, Baba Sahib did it with the belief that every person, irrespective of his birth or background, should get equal opportunity to grow, develop and live a life with dignity. If we want to make Baba Sahib Ji’s dream come true, then we can fulfil this dream only through education, social reform and fight against discrimination.
Sardar Narinder Khalsa said, the progress of any society depends on the progress of its weaker sections. Today, after 75 years of independence there should have been equality in India, but those running the government have done the opposite and have put 80 crore people on free flour and rice, due to which the country has become weak and there is inequality, the country is not being run as per the constitution framed by Baba Sahib Ambedkar
Mir Shahid Salim said that if the executive, legislature and judiciary are seen citing Hindu scriptures instead of the constitution, then understand that they have colluded, due to which our secular nation is turning into a Hindu nation without making any changes in the constitution. These thoughts of Baba Sahib are recorded in the Constituent Assembly. Dalits, OBCs, minorities, tribals should understand the danger and work to save the constitution by fighting a join front.
Tarsem Khullar said the Indian Constitution drafted by Baba Sahib Ambedkar gave us all “Liberty, Fraternity, Justice, Equality “ therefore we should to develop love and respect for each one.
A Harasis Kranti while paying tribute to Baba Sahib, said that Dr. Ambedkar believed that education should be available to everyone, regardless of caste, status, or sex. He was against the disparity in education between different classes in India. But now it is beyond the reach of poor families who r only dependent on free rations. Students and educated youth should join hands and pressure the current government to free education to all, so only and only the dream of Baba Sahib Ambedkar will be fulfilled.
