Washington, D.C., Feb 12 : US President Donald Trump described his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “very good,” emphasizing the continuation of negotiations with Iran while referencing prior US military action against Iranian nuclear sites under Operation Midnight Hammer.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that although no definitive agreement was reached, he encouraged both parties to explore a potential deal with Tehran. “Last time Iran decided that they were better off not making a deal, and they were hit with Midnight Hammer that did not work well for them,” he wrote, recalling the June 2025 strikes targeting Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
Trump also highlighted discussions on broader Middle East affairs, including Gaza. “Additionally, we discussed the tremendous progress being made in Gaza, and the region in general. There is truly PEACE in the Middle East,” he added.
Netanyahu, visiting Washington for the sixth time since Trump returned to office in early 2025, met with Trump at the White House as well as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio at Blair House. Prior to meeting Trump, Netanyahu was inducted as a member of the Board of Peace in Rubio’s presence.
The talks come amid ongoing US-Israel coordination on regional security and diplomacy, including the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire plan announced earlier this year, following the establishment of a committee to administer the enclave.
