NEW YORK/WASHINGTON, Sep 30: US President Donald Trump has said that Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir have expressed “100 per cent” support for his Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, calling Pakistan one of the nations deeply engaged in shaping the proposal.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, Trump said his plan was prepared after “extensive consultations with friends and partners in the region” and had received strong backing from Arab and Muslim leaders.
“The prime minister and the field marshal of Pakistan, they were with us right from the beginning, incredible,” Trump said. “In fact, they just put out a statement that they fully believe in this pact. Just as I was walking out, they said, ‘Sir, you have a big notice from the prime minister of Pakistan and from the field marshal that they back this 100 per cent.’”
The US president also thanked leaders from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Jordan, Türkiye, Indonesia, and Egypt for their active role in the negotiations, noting that many had contributed ideas that shaped the framework of the deal.
According to Trump’s proposal, Gaza would be transformed into a terror-free, deradicalised zone with major redevelopment. If accepted, hostilities would end immediately, Israeli forces would withdraw in stages, and hostages would be released within 72 hours. The plan also envisions prisoner exchanges, unrestricted humanitarian aid, and a roadmap for a two-state solution integrating Gaza and the West Bank.
Following the announcement, the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye, Qatar, and Egypt issued a joint statement welcoming Trump’s initiative, praising his “sincere efforts” to end the war, prevent displacement of Palestinians, rebuild Gaza, and advance comprehensive peace.
Prime Minister Sharif and Field Marshal Munir, both in New York for the UN General Assembly session, had met Trump at the White House last week. The meeting underscored Pakistan’s inclusion among the key regional stakeholders involved in the Gaza negotiations.
