Trump Says He Excels with Tough Negotiations, Highlights Role as Mediator

US President underscores successful US led effort to end Israel-Hamas hostilities and lauds India’s contribution to regional stability.

Sharm el-Sheikh, Oct 14: US President Donald Trump emphasized his ability to handle tough negotiations and mediate complex conflicts during his speech at the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit, held to support the recent Gaza ceasefire agreement.

“We are talking about rebuilding Gaza; not talking about single state, double state, or two-state; we did it the right way, and our timing was perfect,” Trump said, highlighting the US-led efforts to bring an end to hostilities in the region.

During his address, Trump also praised India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him “a very good friend.” He added, “India is a great country with a very good friend of mine at the top, and he has just done a fantastic job.” The remarks came shortly after a phone call between the two leaders, during which PM Modi congratulated Trump on the success of the “historic Gaza peace plan.”

The Gaza ceasefire document was formally signed in Egypt by the four key mediators: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, US President Donald Trump, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in the absence of Israel and Hamas representatives.

The summit, co chaired by Egypt and the US, brought together leaders from over 20 nations as well as representatives from regional and international organizations. President Sisi opened the session, saying, “I welcome you all to the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit, at this momentous and pivotal historical juncture, in which we have together witnessed the conclusion of the Sharm el-Sheikh Agreement to end the war in Gaza.”

The summit highlighted international commitment to rebuilding Gaza, implementing the ceasefire, and fostering long-term regional stability through coordinated diplomatic efforts.
