Trump Says South Africa Will Not Receive Invitation to 2026 G20 Summit

US President announces exclusion while halting financial contributions, sharply criticises South African government and media coverage.

Washington, Nov 27: US President Donald Trump has announced that South Africa will not be invited to the 2026 G20 Summit in Miami, sharply criticising the South African government over alleged “horrific human rights abuses.”

In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote, “The United States did not attend the G20 in South Africa because the South African Government refuses to acknowledge or address the horrific human rights abuses endured by Afrikaners and other descendants of Dutch, French, and German settlers.” He further claimed, “To put it more bluntly, they are killing white people and randomly allowing their farms to be taken from them.”

Trump also condemned major US media outlets for allegedly ignoring the issue, stating, “Perhaps, worst of all, the soon to be out of business New York Times and the Fake News Media won’t issue a word against this genocide. That’s why all the Liars and Pretenders of the Radical Left Media are going out of business!”

He cited South Africa’s refusal to formally hand over the G20 presidency at the conclusion of the 2025 summit as a reason for the exclusion. “At my direction, South Africa will NOT be receiving an invitation to the 2026 G20, which will be hosted in the Great City of Miami, Florida, next year,” Trump said.

Additionally, the US President announced that financial contributions and subsidies to South Africa would be immediately halted, declaring, “South Africa has demonstrated to the world that they are not a country worthy of membership anywhere.”

Trump first suspended aid to South Africa in February, alleging discrimination against White farmers. The exact payments and subsidies being stopped remain unclear. The US had also boycotted the 2025 G20 meeting in South Africa amid similar allegations, which international observers have described as unfounded.
