Trump Supports Plans for World’s Largest Triumphal Arch in Washington, D.C.

President envisions monumental arch near Lincoln Memorial to symbolize U.S. global stature

WASHINGTON, Feb 2: President Donald Trump has endorsed a proposal to build the world’s largest triumphal arch in Washington, D.C., calling for a monument befitting America’s global prominence.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday, Trump said the capital should have a triumphal arch, noting that around 57 cities worldwide already feature such structures. “For 200 years, they wanted to build an arch,” he said, emphasizing his desire for the “biggest one of all.”

Trump first unveiled plans in January, revealing that construction is expected to begin soon. He suggested locating the arch near the Lincoln Memorial, creating a ceremonial gateway along the Arlington Memorial Bridge. Models of multiple designs were presented to donors in October, with Trump favoring the largest option.

The project has drawn comparisons to Paris’s Arc de Triomphe and forms part of broader renovations under Trump’s second administration, which include upgrades to the White House, the Rose Garden, and a new ballroom.
