JAMMU, Jan 10: The Health and Medical Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir has issued a stop-gap arrangement placing two Assistant Commissioners of Food Safety as In-Charge Deputy Commissioners in the J&K Food and Drugs Administration.
The order, released late Friday, specifies that the arrangement will remain in effect for six months or until regular appointments are made, whichever comes first.
Under Government Order No. 09-JK (HME) of 2026, dated January 7, 2026, Ghulam Qadir and Rafi Ahmad Dar, both serving as Assistant Commissioners (Food Safety), have been assigned the additional charge of Deputy Commissioners (Food Safety).
The move follows recommendations from the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) and the Public Service Commission (PSC) to ensure smooth functioning of administrative duties in the department. The order also clarifies that this temporary arrangement does not grant any preferential rights to the officers for regular promotion.
