Srinagar, November 13: The Special Crime Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir has formally filed a chargesheet against two individuals accused of cheating job aspirants by promising government employment in return for substantial payments. The chargesheet, linked to FIR No. 19 of 2023, was submitted before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Kulgam, marking a significant step in the investigation into the alleged employment scam.
According to the official statement, the chargesheet has been filed under Sections 419, 420, and 120 B of the Ranbir Penal Code, which pertain to cheating by personation, cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property, and criminal conspiracy. The case began when several complainants submitted a written complaint alleging that the accused had approached them with false assurances of securing government jobs in exchange for large sums of money.
Following the complaint, the Special Crime Wing initiated a preliminary enquiry at its police station. Investigators soon gathered evidence suggesting that the accused had deliberately misled and manipulated the victims by presenting themselves as capable of securing government positions for them. It was also discovered that one of the accused allegedly impersonated a Kashmiri migrant to strengthen trust and convince the complainants of his supposed influence and connections.
The investigation further revealed that the accused exploited the hopes of job seekers, taking advantage of their aspirations and financial vulnerability. The victims reportedly handed over significant amounts of money believing that the promised jobs were genuine. The Crime Branch confirmed that evidence collected during the investigation supported the allegations of cheating, impersonation, and criminal conspiracy.
With the filing of the chargesheet, the case will now proceed to judicial examination. Crime Branch Kashmir emphasised that it remains committed to taking firm action against individuals involved in fraudulent activities and reiterated its appeal to the public to remain vigilant and avoid falling prey to employment scams or similar deceitful schemes.
