Jammu, Feb 4: In a high intensity operation spanning over 20 hours, the Indian Army neutralised two Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists in the remote Jophar Forest area of Basantgarh, Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir. Among the slain was Avu Mavia, a senior JeM commander active in the region for several years.
The operation, codenamed “Kiya,” was carried out by the Counter-Intelligence Force Delta and White Knight Corps in close coordination with local police and CRPF personnel. Troops established contact with the terrorists and maintained a tight cordon to prevent their escape.
“The operation demonstrated seamless inter-agency coordination, tactical precision, and high professionalism,” the Army said in an official statement. A large cache of weapons and ammunition, including an M4 carbine and an AK assault rifle, was recovered from the militants.
While one body was found at the mouth of a natural cave, the second was discovered deeper inside. The area remains under strict surveillance to prevent any further threats.
