Udhampur Encounter: Two SOG Personnel Injured, Area Put Under Tight Cordon

Udhampur, Dec 16: Two more Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel sustained injuries during an encounter between terrorists and security forces in Udhampur district on Monday evening, official sources said.

According to sources, the injured jawans were hit during an intense exchange of fire, while the terrorists are also believed to have suffered injuries. Earlier, one SOG jawan was martyred after succumbing to critical injuries sustained in the encounter.

The gunfight erupted after security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of terrorists in the area. The situation escalated when the hiding terrorists opened fire on the security personnel, triggering a fierce encounter.

Sources said that firing has since stopped, but the entire area has been placed under a tight security cordon. All possible escape routes have been sealed to prevent the terrorists from fleeing.

Additional reinforcements remain deployed in the area, and search operations are continuing. Further details are awaited.
