Udit Raj Calls PM Modi a ‘Liar’ on Assam Infiltration, Blames Government for Border Lapses

Congress leader hits back at PM Modi, questioning BJP’s control over borders and linking infiltration to elections

New Delhi, Jan 19: Congress leader Udit Raj launched a sharp counterattack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the PM accused the Congress of encouraging infiltration in Assam for political gain. Raj argued that the BJP led Centre, which has managed border security for over a decade, bears full responsibility for the situation.

Raj questioned how infiltrators could enter and remain under a government that has held power since 2014, alleging that the issue is being politicised during elections without real action on the ground.

“Modi has been the Prime Minister for so long, and border security is under his control. How did infiltrators even get in, and how are they managing to stay here?” Raj told ANI, adding, “I am ashamed that our country has elected such a Prime Minister whose only job is to lie. He is such a liar.”

PM Modi’s Assam Remarks Trigger Exchange

The confrontation follows PM Modi’s address in Nagaon, Assam, where he accused the Congress of weakening the state’s security for votes.

“The Congress party handed over Assam’s soil to infiltrators just to form governments and garner a few votes. Infiltration kept increasing during their tenure,” the PM said.

Modi also criticised Congress’s decline in Maharashtra, highlighting its diminished political presence in Mumbai.

Row Spills Into Maharashtra Politics

The political spat extended to Maharashtra, with Raj targeting Deputy CM Eknath Shinde over allegations that Shiv Sena corporators were confined in a Mumbai hotel to prevent defections. Raj accused Shinde and the BJP of political betrayal, while Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut called the Shinde led Sena an “appendage” of the BJP.

Udit Raj’s remarks underscore the intensifying political battle over border security, Assam infiltration, and election strategies, highlighting tensions between the Congress and the BJP as both parties gear up for upcoming polls.
