British Transport Police declare major incident after multiple stabbings on Doncaster–London King’s Cross train; counter terror units join probe

England, Nov 3 : At least ten people were injured  nine of them critically  in a multiple stabbing incident aboard a train in Cambridgeshire, East England, on Saturday evening, according to the British Transport Police (BTP).

Authorities have declared a major incident following the attack and confirmed that two suspects have been arrested. Counter Terrorism Policing units are assisting in the investigation, though officials have urged the public to avoid speculation about the motive.

“Ten people have been taken to hospital following a multiple stabbing on a train in Cambridgeshire. Nine are believed to have sustained life-threatening injuries,” the BTP said in a statement posted on X.

The attack occurred on the 6:25 PM service from Doncaster to London King’s Cross. Emergency responders and law enforcement officers reached the scene when the train was stopped at Huntingdon station.

BTP Chief Superintendent Chris Casey described the incident as “shocking,” extending his sympathies to the victims and their families. “We’re conducting urgent enquiries to establish what has happened, and it could take some time before we are in a position to confirm anything further,” he said, adding that cordons and road closures remain in place and train services through the area have been suspended.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the incident “deeply concerning,” thanking emergency responders for their swift action. “My thoughts are with all those affected, and I urge everyone to follow the advice of the police,” Starmer said on X.

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said she was “deeply saddened” by the attack and confirmed that she is receiving regular updates. “Two suspects have been immediately arrested and taken into custody,” she noted, urging the public to avoid speculation at this stage.

Police have requested that the public steer clear of the area as the investigation continues.
