JAMMU, NOVEMBER 12: Union Secretary Fisheries, Jatinder Nath Swain, today visited SKUAST Jammu and reviewed the functioning of the Agriculture University.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor J P Sharma gave an overview of the achievements of the University in the mandated fields besides informing about different activities of the fisheries sector undergoing in the campus.
Union Secretary visited different facilities developed for the promotion of fisheries at SKAUST-J.
Union Secretary also visited different units of the University including Herbal Gardens (SanjivaniTapovan), Raised and Sunken Bed Model, Bee Keeping unit, Mushroom unit, and IFS.
Appreciating the efforts of the University towards the welfare of farmers, Union Secretary called upon the scientists to work diligently towards translating the research into projects for the welfare of the community.
Union Secretary assured all help to the University towards further streamlining development of fisheries in the University.
Director Fisheries along with other officers accompanied the Union Secretary.
In charge Fisheries unit, Dr. Sahar Masud highlighted different activities of the section besides elaborating on NABARD sponsored fish seed hatchery project. Besides, Associate Professors demonstrated different fish species and recent technologies in aquaculture developed under the DST project besides briefing about the cultural practices being followed in the University.
Scientist KVK Jammu highlighted about the collaborative project of CIFT and SKUAST-J in fish processing aimed at to develop entrepreneurship among rural farmers.
