TIRUMALA, Sept 10: An extraordinary influx of pilgrims has been reported at Tirumala, with devotees currently facing a waiting period of nearly 24 hours for Srivari darshan, according to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
The temple administration said the turnout is likely to rise further as a series of holidays falls between September 12 and 14, prompting preparations to manage the expected increase in pilgrims.
As part of the arrangements, TTD has decided to cancel the VIP Break Darshan scheduled for Sunday, September 13.
The temple body said recommendation letters for the VIP quota will not be accepted on Saturday, September 12, in view of the revised arrangements.
TTD said the time that would have been allotted to the cancelled VIP service will instead be used to facilitate darshan for ordinary pilgrims. The move is aimed at accommodating more devotees and easing pressure caused by the heavy turnout.
The temple administration has urged pilgrims to take note of the changes and extend their cooperation to officials and staff working to regulate the crowds.
Devotees have also been advised to plan their visit accordingly, keeping in mind the anticipated surge during the holiday period.
