UP CM Announces Launch of ODOP 2.0 to Boost State’s Local Industries

ODOP 2.0 aims to professionalize Uttar Pradesh’s district-based products and promote sustainable employment

Uttar Pradesh, Dec 05 :  Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday announced the launch of the next phase of the ‘One District-One Product’ (ODOP) scheme, termed ODOP 2.0, aimed at taking local industries, self-employment, and exports to new heights. The announcement highlights the state government’s focus on modernizing traditional products, improving quality, packaging, and branding to meet global standards.

Addressing officials, CM Adityanath emphasized that ODOP 2.0 will transform traditional district products into strong foundations for large markets, international exports, and sustainable employment. He also highlighted the importance of introducing the ‘One District-One Cuisine’ (ODOC) initiative to preserve and promote the unique culinary heritage of each district in Uttar Pradesh.

“Every region of the state has unique culinary traditions, from halwa to dalmoth. ODOC will ensure these dishes gain organized recognition while ODOP and ODOC together will accelerate Uttar Pradesh’s journey from ‘Local to Global’,” he said.

Since its inception in 2018, ODOP has become a cornerstone of the state’s exports and local enterprises. Over 1.25 lakh toolkits have been distributed, Rs. 6,000 crore in loans disbursed, and more than 8,000 entrepreneurs have received direct marketing support. Additionally, 30 common facility centres have been sanctioned, 44 ODOP products have received Geographical Indication (GI) tags, and products are now widely available on top e-commerce platforms, contributing over 50% of the state’s total exports. The scheme has also received national recognition consecutively.

For ODOP 2.0, the Chief Minister directed special focus on supporting high-performing units from the first phase, enabling them to expand their operations further. He also emphasized enhancing Common Facility Centers by ensuring expert participation to provide small entrepreneurs with technical guidance, design support, packaging solutions, and production assistance all in one place.
