UP CM Holds Strategic Talks with Sify Chairman on AI Cities in Lucknow, Noida

Over ₹12,000 crore invested in data centres as Uttar Pradesh positions itself as a global hub for AI-led digital innovation

Lucknow, Dec 23 : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is rapidly advancing towards becoming a global centre for digital innovation and artificial intelligence (AI). In this direction, Chairman and Managing Director of Sify Technologies, Raju Vegesna, met the Chief Minister at his official residence on Tuesday to hold detailed discussions on AI-driven digital transformation and the proposed development of AI Cities in Lucknow and Noida.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister said artificial intelligence is set to bring transformative change across governance, industry, healthcare, education and manufacturing. He underlined that the Uttar Pradesh government is actively promoting AI-based investments and innovation by strengthening digital infrastructure and creating a conducive policy ecosystem.

Briefing the Chief Minister, Vegesna said Sify Technologies has invested more than ₹12,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh over the past five years, largely towards setting up advanced data centres in Lucknow and Noida. He added that the company plans to double its investment over the next three years.

Vegesna informed that Sify’s AI Edge Data Centre in Lucknow is nearing completion, with plans to develop a large hyperscale AI campus in its vicinity. In Noida, the company operates North India’s largest AI data centre campus, Noida-02, and has proposed another AI campus adjacent to it. Sify’s first green hyperscale data centre, Noida-01, is already catering to more than 100 enterprise, government and hyperscale clients.

It was highlighted that the AI clusters in Lucknow and Noida will be seamlessly interconnected through Sify’s national fibre network, enabling high-speed, low-latency AI workloads. Vegesna also noted that global technology majors such as Google, Meta and Oracle are strategic partners in Sify’s data centre business, significantly enhancing Uttar Pradesh’s global technology footprint.

With sustained policy support under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a preferred destination for global technology companies. In this transformation, HCLTech has played a pivotal role. With world-class campuses in Noida and Lucknow and its global headquarters located in Noida, the $14-billion-revenue company is among the state’s largest investors and private-sector employers.

HCLTech employs over 50,000 people in Uttar Pradesh, nearly 75 per cent of whom are local youth. Its Lucknow campus, which will complete a decade in 2026, currently serves more than 130 global clients and, following expansion, is expected to generate employment for over 18,000 people.

AI-driven solutions developed by HCLSoftware have significantly strengthened the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS), reducing manual workload by 60–70 per cent and cutting complaint resolution time to nearly two minutes an effective example of technology enabled governance. Additionally, CSR initiatives of the HCLFoundation have benefited over 42 lakh people across Uttar Pradesh through programmes such as Samuday and My Clean City, with plans to expand these initiatives to more districts.

Speaking on the occasion, HCL Group Chairperson Roshni Nadar Malhotra said Uttar Pradesh is the karmabhoomi of the HCL Group, where its journey began nearly five decades ago. She noted that HCLTech’s global headquarters is now located in the state and that the company remains Uttar Pradesh’s largest private employer.

She added that an OSAT joint venture unit in the semiconductor sector is proposed to be set up in Jewar, which would further strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s vision of becoming a high-tech manufacturing hub. Expressing gratitude, she acknowledged the semiconductor vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the continued support of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the state administration in driving technology-led growth.
