UP, Nov 4 : Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) posted in Bhogaon, Mainpuri district, has been suspended after a vigilance probe found evidence suggesting he accumulated benami assets worth more than ₹100 crore.
The suspended officer, Rishikant Shukla, is under investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed in connection with the Akhilesh Dubey extortion case. The SIT, probing Kanpur based lawyer Akhilesh Dubey, uncovered links between Dubey’s network and several police officials allegedly involved in illegal property and money laundering deals.
According to the SIT report, Shukla served in Kanpur city from 1998 to 2009, a period during which he allegedly maintained close ties with Dubey and his associates. The group is accused of extortion, land grabbing, and filing fabricated legal cases, including a false POCSO case against a BJP leader.
Sources said Shukla, along with two other police officers CO Santosh Singh and CO Vikas Pandey jointly floated a construction company with Dubey. The firm reportedly included Shukla’s wife, Prabha Shukla; Pandey’s brother, Pradeep Kumar Pandey; Singh’s relative, Ashok Kumar Singh; and Dubey’s family members, Akhil and Satvik. The company allegedly served as a front to launder black money through real estate investments.
Investigators claim the trio acted as Dubey’s “Saket Nagar Durbar,” controlling illegal land deals in Kanpur. Even after being transferred to other districts, they allegedly continued their association with Dubey, facilitating multi-crore property transactions.
Despite the serious allegations, Rishikant Shukla has denied any wrongdoing, calling the charges “baseless and politically motivated.” He began his police career as an ASI in 1998, was promoted to Inspector in 2006, and later became a DSP before his current posting.
The SIT has summoned Shukla and the other accused officers for questioning as it continues to examine property records, company files, and financial transactions to determine the full scope of the alleged police-criminal nexus.
