New Delhi, Oct 13 : Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) chief Upendra Kushwaha has issued an emotional message to his supporters after the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) finalized its seat sharing arrangement for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, allocating only six seats to his party.
In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Kushwaha sought forgiveness from party workers and supporters who had expected a larger share of seats. His message comes amid growing disappointment among RLM cadres following the announcement.
“I seek your forgiveness. The number of seats could not be as per your expectations. I understand this decision will hurt the hearts of thousands—millions—of people, including those colleagues who aspired to be our candidates,” Kushwaha wrote.
Expressing empathy for the emotional reactions within his party, he added,
“Today, in many homes, food might not have been cooked. However, I am sure you all understand the constraints and limitations of both me and the party. Behind every decision, there are circumstances some visible, some not.”
Urging supporters to remain calm, he concluded,
“I humbly request you to let the anger subside, and then you will realize how appropriate or inappropriate the decision is. Time will tell the rest.”
The NDA seat sharing formula for Bihar was announced on Sunday. The BJP and JD(U) will contest 101 seats each, Chirag Paswan’s LJP (Ram Vilas) has been allotted 29 seats, while Upendra Kushwaha’s RLM and Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM will contest six seats each.
The announcement was made by BJP leaders Vinod Tawde and Dharmendra Pradhan, with Tawde posting, “United and Dedicated NDA”, on X. Pradhan said the agreement was finalized after several rounds of meetings held in Delhi and Patna among alliance partners.
Meanwhile, the BJP Central Election Committee has finalized most of its candidates, with a focus on introducing new faces and dropping underperforming MLAs. The party’s first list of candidates is expected to be released on Monday.
