Allahabad, Sep 26: The Allahabad High Court has directed the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) to release the revised results of the Combined State Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination-2024 before conducting the main examination.
The order was passed by a single bench of Justice Ajit Kumar while hearing petitions filed by Rajat Maurya and 41 others.
The Court held that the Commission must mandatorily apply the principle of “migration”, under which candidates from reserved categories who secure marks equal to or above the unreserved cut-off must be included in the unreserved list.
Petitioners argued that the UPPSC had declared only 7,358 candidates qualified for the mains instead of the required 9,135 candidates based on the 1:15 ratio of vacancies stipulated in the recruitment notification. They further alleged that the results were prepared category-wise, thereby excluding several eligible reserved-category candidates from the unreserved merit list.
The High Court directed UPPSC to re-prepare the merit list, make necessary corrections, and publish the revised preliminary results. Only thereafter will the Commission be permitted to conduct the main examination.
