NEW DELHI, Aug 13: US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor on Thursday held separate meetings with Australian High Commissioner Philip Green and Japanese Ambassador ONO Keiichi, with discussions centred on upcoming Quad initiatives and meetings.
Gor shared details of the engagements in a post on X, describing the talks as productive. He said the four Quad partners India, the United States, Australia and Japan remain committed to strengthening cooperation and delivering tangible outcomes for a free and open Indo-Pacific.
The US envoy also posted photographs from his separate meetings with the Australian and Japanese diplomats.
The Quad has developed into an important strategic grouping in the Indo-Pacific, with its members working together on issues related to regional peace, security, stability and economic resilience.
Over the past few years, the grouping has expanded cooperation across several areas, including maritime security, infrastructure development and regional connectivity. Its initiatives are aimed at addressing emerging challenges and supporting a stable and rules based Indo-Pacific.
At the Quad summit hosted in Wilmington, Delaware, in 2024, the leaders of India, the US, Australia and Japan announced several measures to deepen maritime security cooperation across the region.
India has also remained actively engaged with its Quad partners. New Delhi recently hosted a meeting of the grouping’s foreign ministers, chaired by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
The latest diplomatic engagements come as the four countries prepare for upcoming meetings and initiatives aimed at further strengthening coordination on shared regional priorities.
