US, June 09 : A United States Army Apache attack helicopter crashed near the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday as tensions between Washington and Tehran remained high following recent military confrontations in the region.
According to Reuters, both crew members aboard the helicopter were safely rescued, and no fatalities were reported.
The incident comes against the backdrop of an ongoing conflict that intensified after US military operations targeting Iran earlier this year. Authorities have yet to determine what caused the helicopter to go down.
Initial reports said it remains unclear whether the aircraft was hit by hostile fire, experienced a technical failure, or encountered another issue that led to the crash. Officials have not released further details, and an investigation is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Strait of Hormuz, a strategically vital waterway for global energy supplies, has remained a focal point of heightened military activity amid the continuing regional tensions.
