US, June 06 : The United States military announced that it intercepted four Iranian drones heading toward the Strait of Hormuz on Friday before carrying out precision strikes on several Iranian coastal radar installations, marking another escalation in the ongoing standoff between Washington and Tehran.
According to U.S. Central Command, the unmanned aerial vehicles posed a direct threat to commercial shipping routes in one of the world’s most important energy corridors. American forces responded by neutralizing the drones and later targeting surveillance infrastructure that officials said could facilitate future attacks against maritime traffic.
The latest military action comes as the United States continues to enforce restrictions on Iranian maritime activity following Tehran’s attempts to disrupt navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
