Mumbai, Jan 30 – The United States reiterated its commitment to a strong and results-driven energy partnership with India during India Energy Week (IEW) 2026, held from January 27–30 in Goa. The engagement focused on expanding energy trade, enhancing infrastructure, and advancing technology cooperation, according to a press release from the US Consulate General in Mumbai.
Acting Consul General Mike Schreuder led the US delegation, highlighting the growing economic and strategic importance of the US-India energy partnership. “Our cooperation is centered on action expanding reliable American energy exports, promoting market driven growth, and supporting affordable and dependable energy supplies,” Schreuder said. “These efforts strengthen energy security, boost economic growth, and create opportunities for both nations.”
During the event, the delegation engaged with Indian national oil companies and industry leaders to explore increasing imports of American hydrocarbons and civil nuclear energy technologies. The United States currently supplies about 10% of India’s liquefied petroleum gas demand, while discussions also covered long-term contracts for US crude oil and liquefied natural gas.
The press release noted that US energy exports provide India with a flexible and reliable supply to meet growing demand while supporting American production and jobs. As India seeks to expand its civil nuclear power capacity, US companies bring proven expertise and global experience.
Both countries emphasized innovation as key to a secure energy future, investing in advanced technologies such as smart grids and next-generation energy systems to create a more resilient energy network.
The US Consulate General confirmed that it will continue to advance US-India energy cooperation through trade, investment, and practical solutions to strengthen prosperity and energy security for both nations.
