Varanasi, Dec 03 : A day before Russian President Vladimir Putin arrives in India for a two-day visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency of Varanasi showcased vibrant enthusiasm, marked by a grand India–Russia Friendship March.
The event, organised by Vishal Bharat Sansthan, was held on Wednesday to offer a symbolic and warm welcome to the Russian leader. The rally, featuring large posters of Modi and Putin, commenced from Subhash Bhavan and concluded at the Munshi Premchand Smriti Dwar.
Participants raised energetic slogans such as “Long Live India–Russia Relations,” “India–Russia Friendship is Essential for the World,” and “The Modi–Putin Duo Will Bring Peace to the World.” A prayer ceremony for President Putin’s well-being was also conducted, accompanied by drum beats, music, dance, and singing.
Speaking at the event, Dr Rajiv Shriguru, National President of Vishal Bharat Sansthan, said India and Russia share a natural and time-tested friendship. “Both nations have always supported each other in moments of joy and crisis,” he said.
Calling Narendra Modi and Vladimir Putin “leaders committed to protecting democracy, borders, and sovereignty,” Shriguru added that their partnership represents a pathway to global peace. “Putin’s arrival in India at this juncture signals a shift in global dynamics. On behalf of all Indians, we warmly welcome him. Together, Modi and Putin will create new history,” he stated.
The city continues its preparations as Varanasi awaits the arrival of the Russian President.
