ITANAGAR, Sept 8: Vice President CP Radhakrishnan arrived at Donyi Polo Airport in Itanagar on Tuesday evening, beginning a two-day visit to Arunachal Pradesh during which he is scheduled to attend a special session of the state Legislative Assembly and visit several key institutions.
Radhakrishnan was received at the airport by Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik, Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao, Rajya Sabha MP Tai Tagak and other dignitaries.
Welcoming the Vice President to the “Land of the Rising Sun”, Khandu said the state was honoured by his visit and expressed hope that his stay would be memorable and meaningful.
The Chief Minister highlighted Arunachal Pradesh’s natural beauty, tribal heritage and the warmth of its people, saying these would provide a meaningful backdrop to the Vice President’s visit.
As part of his itinerary, Radhakrishnan will address a special session of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Wednesday. The engagement is expected to provide an opportunity to underline the importance of constitutional institutions and democratic traditions.
The Vice President is also scheduled to visit the Assembly Gallery cum Museum, Nyedar Namlo and the Jawaharlal Nehru State Museum. His programme further includes a visit to Donyi Polo Mission School for students with hearing and visual impairments.
The two day programme comes amid continued efforts to strengthen institutional engagement between the Union government and Arunachal Pradesh.
The visit is expected to highlight the significance of the northeastern state’s constitutional institutions, cultural heritage and social development initiatives.
