Jammu, February 13: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar is set to embark on a significant day-long visit to Jammu and Katra this Saturday, where he will participate in key academic and spiritual engagements, marking an important occasion for the region.
During his visit, the Vice President will grace the 10th Convocation Ceremony of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) as the Chief Guest, presiding over the prestigious event at the Matrika Auditorium on the university campus in Katra. The convocation will witness the felicitation of meritorious students, with degrees and honors being conferred upon graduates across various disciplines.
In addition to his academic engagement, Vice President Dhankhar will seek the divine blessings of Mata Vaishno Devi, undertaking a pilgrimage to the revered Vaishno Devi Shrine and the Bhairon Temple, both situated atop the sacred Trikuta Hills in Reasi district. His visit to these revered sites underscores the spiritual and cultural significance of Jammu and Kashmir, a region deeply intertwined with faith and devotion.
Originally scheduled to attend the SMVDU convocation on December 27, 2023, the Vice President’s visit was deferred due to the national mourning declared following the passing of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. However, with his upcoming presence at the university, the convocation is expected to be a momentous occasion, celebrating academic excellence and inspiring the future leaders of the nation.
Vice President Dhankhar’s visit is highly anticipated, bringing together students, faculty, and dignitaries, while also highlighting Jammu and Kashmir’s rich educational landscape and spiritual heritage.
