Tamil Nadu, Feb 26 : Vijay’s highly anticipated film Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, continues to grapple with clearance issues from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), causing an indefinite delay in its release.
Industry sources confirm that the CBFC initially denied the film a certificate despite all mandated cuts and muted scenes. The primary concern: its politically charged content, which the board says could influence audiences.
Revising Committee Highlights Political Undertones
Recent updates indicate that the CBFC’s Revising Committee conducted a fresh evaluation. According to insiders, the committee noted that Jana Nayagan “carries a strong political wave throughout its runtime,” with messaging that reflects Vijay’s public persona as he transitions into politics. They added, “Director H Vinoth delivers a commercial political action entertainer, concluding with a powerful climax that encourages viewers to reflect before casting their votes.”
Trending Cinema’s Facebook page further echoed the sentiment, reporting that the film’s political impact is unmistakable and that, had it released before elections, it could have become a mega blockbuster.
Tentative Release Targeted for June
Regional outlets, including Eenadu and NT News, suggest the producers are now eyeing a June release, tentatively on June 18. The timing is strategic, coinciding with Vijay’s birthday on June 22 and the Muharram long weekend, offering potential for a strong box-office performance.
Earlier speculation from the YouTube channel Valai Pechu had hinted at an even longer delay, emphasizing that the release hinges on the CBFC process moving smoothly.
With censor clearance still pending, Jana Nayagan remains one of the most anticipated politically infused action entertainers of the year.
