Vikrant Massey, Tamannaah Bhatia Forgo Fees for Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘O’Romeo’

Actors opt out of remuneration for special appearances in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ambitious film, citing creative satisfaction and long-standing professional bonds.

Mumbai, Feb 10 : Actors Vikrant Massey and Tamannaah Bhatia have reportedly waived their fees for Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming film O’Romeo, choosing artistic fulfilment over financial gain. Both actors are set to make special appearances and were drawn to the project by the depth and significance of their roles.

For Vikrant, the decision also carried emotional weight. The actor honoured a commitment he had made to Bhardwaj years earlier, long before his breakthrough success with 12th Fail. Bhardwaj shared that Vikrant had always expressed a desire to collaborate, crediting the filmmaker’s Maqbool as a major influence on his journey into acting. Vikrant shot his portions over more than a week, with the director noting that his performance brings notable emotional resonance to the narrative.

Tamannaah, too, agreed to join the film without remuneration despite its constrained budget. Though her screen time is limited, her character is said to be pivotal to a major plot revelation. She devoted nearly two weeks to filming and participated in rehearsals and workshops, demonstrating strong commitment to the role and leaving a positive impression on the production team.

Mounted on an estimated budget of ₹75–80 crore, O’Romeo ranks among the costliest ventures of Shahid Kapoor’s career and is widely viewed as one of Bhardwaj’s most ambitious projects. Industry expectations suggest the film will need to surpass the ₹100 crore mark to achieve commercial success.

The cast also includes Triptii Dimri, Avinash Tiwary, Nana Patekar, Farida Jalal, and Disha Patani in prominent roles. Backed by Sajid Nadiadwala under the Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment banner, the film is slated for a theatrical release on February 13, 2026.
