Vishnu Sahasranama Kodi Archana Marks Spiritual Milestone at Uttara Guruvayurappan Temple, Delhi

27-day sacred ritual brings Kerala’s revered traditions to Delhi, culminating in the ethereal Laksha Deeparchana

New Delhi, 24 Oct 2025: In a historic spiritual milestone, the Uttara Guruvayurappan Temple in Mayur Vihar Phase-I is hosting the Vishnu Sahasranama Kodi Archana Yajnam from October 6 to November 1, 2025. This monumental Vedic ritual, traditionally performed only in Kerala, has now found its northern sanctum, offering devotees in Delhi a rare opportunity to partake in a spiritually transformative experience.

Organized by the Arsha Dharma Parishad, the temple’s governing body, the ritual fulfills a long cherished aspiration of devotees of Lord Guruvayurappan. The Kodi Archana involves chanting the Vishnu Sahasranama  the thousand sacred names of Lord Vishnu composed by Sage Vyasa  accompanied by ten million floral offerings. Each chant represents a vibration of cosmic consciousness, symbolizing harmony between human devotion and the universe.

Over 27 consecrated days, learned Archakas from Kerala perform the chants corresponding to each of the 27 Nakshatras. The rituals are accompanied by Poorna Silver Kalasams, sanctified floral offerings, and intricate Tantric rites. Preliminary purification ceremonies, including Praasada Sudhi and Bimba Sudhi, ensured both spiritual and physical sanctity of the temple.

The grand ceremony will culminate on November 2 with the Laksha Deeparchana, where countless lamps will illuminate the temple, creating a mesmerizing sea of light. Daily rituals are enhanced by Kerala’s classical temple music forms, including Panchavadyam, Thayambaka, Melam, and Keli, offering devotees a profound blend of devotion, culture, and art.

Through this unprecedented event, the Vishnu Sahasranama Kodi Archana not only bridges regional spiritual traditions but also celebrates the living heritage of Sanatana Dharma. The yajnam stands as a testament to collective devotion, uniting devotees in a luminous expression of faith, harmony, and divine grace.
