Mumbai, Dec 15 : Mumbai is set to host a landmark inclusive sporting event as the Physical Disability T20 Series will be held at the iconic Wankhede Stadium from December 16 to 18. All three matches of the series will be played at the same venue, offering fans a rare chance to witness high-quality cricket while celebrating the determination and skill of athletes with physical disabilities.
The three day T20 series aims to promote inclusivity, resilience and sporting excellence, while highlighting the growing stature of physical disability cricket at both national and international levels. Known for its rich legacy and world-class facilities, the Wankhede Stadium provides a fitting backdrop for this historic event.
Speaking on the occasion, Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) General Secretary Unmesh Khanvilkar said hosting the Physical Disability Cricket Series for the first time was a proud moment for the association.
“Hosting the Physical Disability Cricket Series is a milestone for the MCA. It celebrates resilience, redefines ability and reinforces that cricket truly belongs to everyone. Our President, Ajinkya Naik, is deeply committed to promoting physical disability cricket, and the MCA will continue to extend its full support,” he said.
Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI) General Secretary Ravi Chauhan described the event as a special moment for the players.
“Playing at the historic Wankhede Stadium, where India won the 2011 World Cup, will be a huge source of motivation for our players. We are grateful to MCA and its president Ajinkya Naik for their consistent support towards physical disability cricket,” Chauhan said.
He also noted that with continued backing from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), sustained efforts are being made to strengthen and expand physical disability cricket across the country.
Each match in the series is expected to deliver competitive cricket, showcasing skill, teamwork and determination, while reinforcing sport as a powerful platform for equality and empowerment.
