Weather Update: Cooler Day and Rain Expected in Jammu and Kashmir

04-07-2023 : The Meteorological Department in Jammu and Kashmir has predicted a cooler day on Tuesday, accompanied by the possibility of rain at scattered places during the next 24 hours in the region. A meteorological department official stated that the weather is expected to be generally cloudy with light to moderate rain occurring at various places in Jammu & Kashmir. He also mentioned that the day ahead would be comparatively cooler.

Looking ahead to July 5, the weather forecast indicates a likelihood of intermittent light to moderate rain and thunderstorms at multiple locations in J&K. From July 6 to July 8, intermittent light to moderate rain is anticipated in various parts of J&K, with some places in the plains of Jammu region possibly experiencing moderate to heavy spells during the morning hours.

As for the minimum temperatures recorded on the current day, Srinagar registered a low of 17.8°C, slightly lower than the previous night’s temperature of 19.0°C, yet it remained 0.7°C above the normal range for the summer capital. Qazigund recorded a low of 17.8°C, compared to 17.0°C on the previous night, indicating a deviation of 2.3°C above normal for the gateway town of the Kashmir Valley. Pahalgam, the famous tourist resort in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, recorded a low of 10.3°C, slightly below normal by 0.5°C.

In Kupwara town in north Kashmir, the temperature settled at 16.0°C, remaining 0.5°C above normal. Kokernag recorded a low of 15.2°C, deviating by 0.3°C above normal for the area. Gulmarg, the world-famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, recorded a low of 11.8°C, exceeding the normal range by 0.9°C.

Moving to the winter capital, Jammu recorded a low of 26.7°C, 1.1°C above normal. Other locations like Banihal, Batote, Katra, and Bhaderwah experienced temperatures of 16.8°C, 18.5°C, 19.6°C, and 17.9°C, respectively, with each location showing slight variations from the normal temperatures.

Overall, the weather forecast for the region indicates the possibility of rain and cooler temperatures for the specified time frame. Residents and tourists alike are advised to be prepared for such weather conditions and take necessary precautions as required.
