26-04-2023 : WhatsApp introduces new security features to prevent hackers from taking over users’ accounts and stealing their authentication credentials. The new features include a cryptographic nonce, an authentication challenge, and a security token that will help identify suspicious connections and block them.
The company aims to prevent attackers from sending spam and false messages to other contacts while posing as the victim. The security token is updated each time an offline message is fetched from the server, and the client must submit the security token each time it connects to the server. The new feature is now accessible to all Android users and iOS users.
