14-06-2023 : National Conference leader Omar Abdullah has expressed his demand for early assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, questioning why Lok Sabha and local body elections can be conducted but not assembly polls. Speaking about the allegations made by former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey regarding government pressure on social media during the farmers’ protest, Abdullah stated that he does not know the truth behind the claims.
Regarding the comments made by Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board chairperson and BJP leader Darakshan Andrabi, who advised him to wait for assembly elections, Abdullah criticized her stance. He emphasized that there is no need for him to wait for elections, and suggested that Andrabi’s party fears being wiped out in the elections. Abdullah stated that both parliament elections and ULB (Urban Local Body) polls are being conducted, questioning why assembly elections are not being held as well.
Addressing the issue of certain movies, like ’72 Hoorain’, being part of a conspiracy, Abdullah acknowledged the existence of such conspiracies but questioned whether they can truly harm their religion. He noted that as the parliament elections approach, more such activities may arise, and urged caution and wise action to counter and defeat these conspiracies.
