World & Asian Medallist Sees IPL-Style League as Boost for Indian Archery and Olympic Preparation

New Delhi: Indian compound archer Rishabh Yadav, a World Championship and Asian Championship medallist, expressed his excitement ahead of the inaugural Archery Premier League, where he will face international stars including five time Olympian Brady Ellison. Rishabh said competing against the world’s best will be a valuable experience and an opportunity to elevate his game.

The Archery Premier League is scheduled from October 2 to 12 at the Yamuna Sports Complex in New Delhi. The league features six franchises  Prithviraj Yodhas (Delhi), Rajputana Royals (Rajasthan), Kakatiya Knights (Telangana), Mighty Marathas (Maharashtra), Chero Archers (Jharkhand), and Chola Chiefs (Tamil Nadu)  competing for the ultimate prize. Rishabh will represent the Chola Chiefs in the Compound Men’s category.

“The Archery Premier League is a major milestone for our sport. It provides archers with a prominent platform and brings archery closer to fans nationwide,” said Rishabh. “I’m really excited about the chance to go up against Brady Ellison. He is one of the best in the world, and facing him will be a great experience for me.”

Rishabh has also partnered with Jyothi Surekha Vennam to set a mixed team world record of 1,431 points at the Archery World Cup in Madrid in July 2025 and achieved his personal best individual score of 716. In August 2025, he made history by winning India’s first-ever individual archery medal at the World Games, securing bronze in men’s compound after defeating his mentor, Abhishek Verma.

Under Abhishek’s guidance, Rishabh has amassed numerous accolades and is regarded as a rising star in Indian archery. He added, “The Archery Premier League is a big morale booster. It will serve as excellent preparation for the Olympics, giving athletes the chance to compete on a bigger stage, play more matches, and gain valuable experience.”

Rishabh also highlighted India’s strong performance in mixed team events at the World Championships. “Our experience over the past year has been very good. With compound archery now included in the mixed team event, our focus is stronger on achieving that missing Olympic medal. Finishing second in the mixed team at the World Championships is a very positive sign for the future,” he said.
