Jhansi, June 21: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday directed officials to intensify efforts against illegal mining operations, cattle smuggling networks, and organized mafia groups during a comprehensive review of law and order and development initiatives in Jhansi district.
Presiding over a high-level meeting at the Commissioner Auditorium, the chief minister assessed the district’s security framework and evaluated the progress of key development projects. He emphasized the need for proactive governance and strict enforcement measures to curb unlawful activities that affect public welfare and economic stability.
During the review, Adityanath instructed authorities to launch decisive action against individuals and groups involved in unauthorized extraction of mineral resources, illicit transportation of cattle, land grabbing, and illegal liquor trade. Stressing accountability, he directed officials to identify and dismantle such networks through coordinated administrative and policing efforts.
To strengthen monitoring mechanisms, the chief minister advocated the wider deployment of CCTV surveillance systems in vulnerable areas. He noted that technology-driven oversight can significantly improve the detection and prevention of unlawful operations, particularly in mining-prone regions.
The chief minister also expressed concern over the overloading of vehicles and ordered enforcement agencies to take firm action against violations. He highlighted that Uttar Pradesh has established a dedicated mining policy and said its provisions must be implemented effectively to ensure transparency and sustainability in the sector.
Addressing environmental concerns, Adityanath instructed district authorities to undertake land restoration measures in areas affected by unauthorized excavation. He emphasized that damaged sites should be levelled and transformed through extensive plantation drives to promote ecological balance and improve local landscapes.
The meeting also focused on enhancing coordination between government officials and elected representatives. The chief minister said regular communication and collaboration among stakeholders are essential for accelerating infrastructure development and ensuring efficient delivery of public services.
He suggested that foundation stone-laying ceremonies and project inaugurations should actively involve public representatives, thereby strengthening community participation and fostering greater public confidence in government initiatives.
A significant portion of the discussion revolved around the innovative “Jan Samvad” programme introduced by District Magistrate Gaurang Rathi. Impressed by its effectiveness, Adityanath directed officials to explore the possibility of implementing the model across Uttar Pradesh.
He recommended that a detailed presentation on the initiative be made before the Chief Secretary through video conferencing so that its best practices can be studied and replicated in other districts.
The chief minister also appreciated the use of the platform under the “Nyayalaya Aapke Dwar” initiative, which facilitates the resolution of public grievances and legal matters closer to citizens. According to him, such governance innovations help bridge the gap between the administration and the public while improving access to justice.
Concluding the review, Adityanath reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order, promoting transparent administration, and ensuring balanced development across the state. He urged officials to remain vigilant and responsive to public concerns while implementing policies aimed at strengthening governance and improving quality of life for residents.
