Jammu, Saturday 01-03-2025: The elections to the Young Lawyers’ Association (YLA) High Court of Jammu and Kashmir & Ladakh were held and successfully concluded on Saturday in the premises of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh. The polling of votes was conducted in the Conference Hall of the Lawyers’ Chambers Complex, opposite the District Courts Complex, Janipur, Jammu, by the outgoing president Advocate Rohit Sharma Who was the Returning Officer of the Young Lawyers’ Association under the Supervision of Advocate Monish Chopra, Chairman of the Election-Cum-Scrutiny Committee of the YLA and Advocate S. Baldev Singh, Vice President of the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu and Convener of the YLA Elections, 2025.
The total registered voters for the YLA Elections,2025 were 790 out of which 649 votes were cast by the voters till the conclusion of the polling of votes at 04:00 pm sharp. A total number of 13 candidates participated and contested for different posts in YLA elections, which included for the post of President—Advocates Advocates Amandeep Sharma, Chander Dev Manhas, Manik Wazir; for the post of Vice President—Advocates Aanish Dubey, Bhagirath Singh, Jaskaran Singh, Rishav Vaid; for the post of General Secretary – Advocates Anurag Bakshi, Saksham (Kanni) for post of Joint Secretary- Advocates Hitesh Koul, Karuna Atri; and for the post of Treasurer- Advocates Qadeer Ahmed, Sushil Kumar.
The counting of votes was done at Justice (Retd.) Vinod Kumar Gupta Memorial Bar Hall, High Court Complex, Janipur, Jammu by the Election Committee in the presence of the polling agents for each candidate on under overall supervision of the President of the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu Advocate Nirmal Kotwal who was assisted by other office bearers of J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu viz., Vice President S. Baldev Singh, General Secretary Pardeep Majotra, Joint Secretary Anshu Mahajan, and Treasurer Rahul Aggarwal.

As such, Mr. Amandeep Sharma, having secured maximum votes, has been declared president of the Young Lawyers Association in Jammu.

As such, Mr. Bhagirath Singh, having secured maximum votes, has been declared Vice-President of the Young Lawyers Association, Jammu.

After declaration of the results, the Returning Officer Advocate Rohit Sharma expressed his gratitude and thanks to his team of outgoing office bearers including Vice-President S.Gagandeep Singh Lucky, General Secretary Yasser Farooq Khan, Joint Secretary Karanjeet Singh Johal, Treasurer Naresh Kumar, Chairman and members of the Election Committee, Office bearers and employees of the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu; Hon’ble Chief Justice and companion Judges as well as Registrar General and Officers/ Officials of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, Police and Security Personal and Media fraternity, voters and members of the bar for their cooperation in ensuring smooth, free and fair elections.
