Youth should reconnect with cultural roots through kite flying: Yudhvir Sethi

JAMMU, Aug 9: On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Senior BJP leader and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Jammu East constituency, Yudhvir Sethi, joined BJP karyakartas in flying kites at Purani Mandi area of the Jammu East constituency. The event was marked by vibrant festivities reflecting the traditional spirit of the festival.
Addressing the gathering, Yudhvir Sethi urged the youth to reconnect with their rich cultural roots through kite flying.
“Youth should not forget traditional festivals and must take pride in celebrating our culture, which strengthens family and social bonds,” he said.
He expressed concern over the growing trend of youngsters becoming engrossed in mobile phones and digital distractions, which often leads to disconnection from age-old customs.
“Today’s generation is increasingly engrossed in digital devices and social media, which has led to a decline in traditional activities like kite flying. It’s important for our youth to balance modern technology with our cultural heritage. Kite flying is not just a sport but a symbol of freedom and festivity that connects us to our roots. I urge young people to revive such traditions to keep our cultural spirit alive,” Yudhvir Sethi said.
The kite-flying event saw enthusiastic participation from BJP workers and locals, who enjoyed the festive atmosphere and engaged in friendly competitions. The colorful kites soaring in the sky symbolized joy, freedom, and the spirit of togetherness.
The MLA also highlighted the government’s efforts to promote cultural awareness and community bonding through various initiatives. He assured that the BJP would continue to encourage activities that preserve and promote traditional values among the younger generation.
The event concluded with sweets distribution and warm wishes exchanged among attendees, reinforcing the festival’s message of love and protection between siblings.
