NEW DELHI, Oct 10: YouTuber Dhruv Rathee was detained by Delhi Police at his residence in Sector 56 of Gurugram on Saturday ahead of a proposed demonstration by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar, according to police sources.
Rathee was reportedly preparing to join the protest, prompting heightened attention from authorities as security arrangements were strengthened across the national capital.
Delhi Police had earlier refused permission for the planned demonstration, citing security concerns and procedural requirements. The proposed gathering nevertheless remained a point of attention ahead of Saturday’s developments.
The detention took place in Gurugram, Haryana, while the planned protest was scheduled to be held at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. Further details regarding the circumstances of Rathee’s detention and any subsequent police action were not immediately available.
The development comes amid preparations by Delhi Police to maintain public order and manage security around the proposed gathering. Authorities had not granted approval for the demonstration earlier in the week.
