Event management team says singer was taken to yacht without prior knowledge, festival cancelled in mourning

Following the tragic demise of renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg in Singapore, his event management team, Shyamkanu Mahanta & Team, expressed deep grief over the incident. The singer, who arrived in Singapore just two days prior, was scheduled to perform and interact with fans at a festival on Saturday.

In a statement, the team revealed that some members of the Assamese community took Garg to a yacht visit without their knowledge. “During our meeting with senior Singaporean industrialists and policymakers, we received a call informing us that Zubeen had an accident and was rushed to Singapore General Hospital. We later learned that a few local community members had taken him on a yacht, of which we had no prior knowledge,” the statement read.

The team confirmed they rushed to the hospital immediately and have been coordinating with authorities to complete necessary formalities. “With profound grief, we share the heartbreaking news that our beloved icon, Zubeen Garg, passed away around 2:30 PM. This is a monumental loss. In light of this tragedy, we are cancelling the event. We are devastated and pray for his departed soul. Om Shanti,” the team added.

Zubeen Garg’s sudden demise has left fans and the Assamese community in shock, marking a significant loss to the music industry.
