CCI Arun Gupta Appeals for ITR, Audit Deadline Extension Till December 31, 2025
Chamber Requests CM Omar Abdullah to Pursue Urgent Relief with Centre
Jammu, 12-09-2025:In a communication addressed to the Hon’ble Union Finance Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Sh. Arun Gupta, President Chamber of Commerce & Industry, highlighted the dual crisis impacting the region. The recent tragic terror attack in Pahalgam on 22 April 2025 and the subsequent security situation, ‘Operation Sindoor,’ have significantly hampered normal business activities. This situation has been further compounded by heavy rains, landslides, and flash floods across the Jammu division, which have devastated large parts of the region, leaving the majority of business activities non-functional
Sh. Arun Gupta also said that a majority of businessmen are currently engaged in crucial relief and rehabilitation efforts to assist affected families, making it unfeasible for them to complete their tax audit and file their returns by the due dates.
“The business community is facing unprecedented challenges that have made compliance with the current deadlines nearly impossible,” said Mr. Gupta. “Our priority is to support our community members in this time of crisis. A deadline extension would provide much-needed relief and allow us to focus on recovery without the added pressure of meeting statutory obligations.”
Sh. Arun Gupta, President of the Chamber of Commerce & Industry, humbly requests the Finance Minister to extend the deadline for filing Income Tax Returns and Tax Audit Reports until at least 31 December 2025.
Sh. Arun Gupta also requested to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of the UT of J&K, Sh. Omar Abdullah to take up the matter with the Union Finance Minister on an urgent basis.
