High Court Observes Summer Vacations from June 19 to July 8

15-06-2023 : The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has announced that it will observe summer vacations from June 19 to July 8, 2023. This period has been designated as a break for the court, during which no regular work will take place. The announcement was made through an official order.

According to the order, the “No Work Period” for the High Court will begin on June 19 and continue until June 24, 2023. During this time, no matters will be heard by the court. However, after the No Work Period, certain judges have been nominated to hear urgent matters and handle any legal issues that may arise during the vacation period.

For matters related to the Jammu Wing of the High Court, Justice Rajesh Sekhri and Justice Rahul Bharti have been appointed to preside over cases. On the other hand, matters pertaining to the Srinagar Wing will be heard by Justice Moksha Khajuria and Justice Wasim Sadiq Nagral.

The summer vacations provide a temporary break for the High Court, allowing judges, court staff, and other personnel to take some time off for rest and relaxation. It is a common practice for courts to observe such vacation periods, usually during the summer months when temperatures can be high and the workload may be relatively lighter.

During the summer vacation, the court premises will likely have reduced activity, with limited administrative staff available to handle routine tasks. However, the nominated judges will be responsible for dealing with urgent matters that cannot be postponed until after the vacation period.

It is important to note that while the High Court is on summer vacation, other lower courts and legal institutions may continue their regular functioning. The summer vacation primarily applies to the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

Overall, the announcement of summer vacations for the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh from June 19 to July 8, 2023, indicates a temporary pause in regular court proceedings during this period. The designated judges will handle urgent matters, ensuring that essential legal functions are not completely halted.
