Sneh Rana: “Kept Praying Continuously, Wanted to Feel the Thrill of a World Cup Win”

From Visualization to Victory: How Self-Belief and Positivity Powered India to Their Maiden ODI World Cup Title

India, Nov 10 : Nearly a week after India’s historic triumph at the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup, off spinner and all rounder Sneh Rana shared her emotional journey during the final moments of the tournament. Harmanpreet Kaur’s spectacular catch of South Africa’s Nadine de Klerk at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai sealed India’s first ever ODI World Cup title, sparking celebrations that will be remembered for generations.

Speaking exclusively to IANS, Sneh recalled, “I was just continuously praying while sitting outside. I felt it was the last wicket, and all I wanted was to experience the feeling of being a world champion. That was all on my mind.”

The immediate celebrations left the players in a state of surreal disbelief. “After leaving the field late, the hotel had arrangements for a party, but we were so numb that we didn’t even know what was happening,” Sneh added.

India’s road to the title had been challenging, with three consecutive losses in the league stage threatening their campaign. Sneh highlighted how a positive dressing room environment and unwavering self-belief turned the tide. “We kept telling each other that we just needed one shift to win. The environment in our dressing room was so positive, and that belief helped us succeed.”

The team also embraced the power of manifestation and visualization, guided by strength and conditioning coach AI Harrsha. “He made us visualize winning the trophy and feeling that moment every day. Focusing on positive thoughts aligned the stars for us, and I think it worked,” Sneh said.

For the Indian team, the victory carried special significance, especially after past heartbreaks in 2017 and the 2023 T20 World Cup semi-final. “We had lost close matches before, but this time we crossed the finish line. The feeling is surreal, like a dream,” she reflected.

The semi-final victory over seven time champions Australia, achieved while chasing a record 339, was a defining moment. Sneh emphasized the role of collective confidence and self-belief. “We knew if any team could beat Australia, it was us. We believed in ourselves, gave our best on the field, and it finally happened.”

DY Patil Stadium, now etched in history, holds a special place in the hearts of the champions. “This ground has become very special because we lifted the trophy here. It gave off so many positive vibes,” Sneh concluded.

India’s maiden Women’s ODI World Cup title is not just a sporting achievement—it is an inspiring story of belief, perseverance, and the power of teamwork that will motivate a generation of young athletes across the country.
