JAMMU, AUG 9: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta expressed strong condemnation of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s flying kiss gesture in the Lok Sabha, labeling it as an inappropriate and indecent act.
In a statement issued here today, the BJP stalwart voiced his concerns about the lack of decorum and respect displayed by Gandhi towards the Parliamentary proceedings. He strongly condemned the act of Rahul Gandhi as disrespectful, particularly highlighting that the gesture was directed towards the Union Minister, Smriti Irani, while she was addressing the House.
Kavinder said this is not the first time when Rahul Gandhi has behaved inappropriately inside the Lok Sabha. He recalled Rahul’s earlier act of walking across the aisle to hug Prime Minister Narendra Modi after finishing his speech in the July 2018 no confidence motion against the Council of Ministers. After hugging the PM, Rahul returned to his seat and winked in a gesture of victory.
Highlighting the historical significance of the Lok Sabha, he said”Throughout its history, the Lok Sabha has maintained a high standard of decorum and respect. Parliament is the temple of democracy, and such actions undermine its sanctity and undermine the seriousness of the issues being discussed. This disgraceful and indecent act by a Member of Parliament is an unfortunate departure from the established norms of parliamentary conduct.”
Kavinder emphasized that such behavior perpetuates a misogynistic mindset and reflects poorly on the Congress party’s values. He asserted that the Congress leader should apology the Nation for his inappropriate behavior and undermining the sanctity of Lok Sabha.
