India, Sep 18 : India completed a 3-0 T20I series sweep over Afghanistan after registering a commanding 127-run victory in the third match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Thursday, September 17.
The match belonged largely to opener Abhishek Sharma, who produced a breathtaking batting display to score a century from just 30 deliveries. His innings gave India a powerful start and helped the hosts post a formidable total before Afghanistan struggled to keep pace during their chase.
Abhishek’s explosive knock also placed him in the record books, with his 30-ball hundred becoming the fastest T20I century by an Indian batter, surpassing Rohit Sharma’s previous mark. His performance capped an impressive turnaround during the three-match series, in which he finished with 209 runs from 85 deliveries.
India’s bowling attack then completed the job as Afghanistan were unable to mount a serious challenge while chasing the imposing target. The 127-run margin sealed India’s third consecutive victory of the series.
Sanju Samson also continued his productive run, contributing another half-century after scoring a fifty in the previous match. The result gave India a clean sweep and underlined the team’s strong performance across the series.
The victory also comes at an important stage of India’s packed international calendar, with the team preparing for a demanding run of fixtures across multiple formats.
