ACB Intensifies Crackdown on Corruption, FIR 02/2026 Registered in High-Profile Case

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 25: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau has registered a disproportionate assets case against a Police Inspector after a verification exercise allegedly revealed the accumulation of assets worth crores of rupees beyond his known sources of income.

According to officials, the officer, identified as Vijay Singh Choudhary, a resident of Nonial in the Nowshera area of Rajouri district and currently posted in the Union Territory of Ladakh, is suspected of amassing substantial immovable properties. The verification reportedly found that he had acquired more than ten properties, including residential houses, commercial shops and approximately 100 kanals of land. Most of these assets are stated to be in the names of his family members and close relatives.

Based on the findings, the ACB registered a formal case under Section 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The case has been recorded as FIR No. 02/2026 at Police Station ACB Central, and a detailed investigation has been initiated.

During the course of the probe, the ACB secured search warrants from the Special Judge Anti-Corruption Jammu. Acting on these warrants, multiple search operations were conducted at various locations. These included residential premises at Santokh Vihar in the Kaluchak area of Jammu and at Nonial in Nowshera. In addition, business establishments allegedly linked to the officer, including a stone crusher unit and a tile factory at Tutte-di-Khui in the Bajalta area of Jammu, were also searched.

Officials stated that certain other locations within Jammu were searched under Section 185 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. During the operations, documents and material believed to be incriminating were recovered and seized for examination.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau has indicated that the investigation is ongoing and further scrutiny of financial records, property transactions and related documentation is underway.
