Mumbai, Oct 22 : When you think of Bill Gates, technology, innovation, and global philanthropy come to mind not melodrama, baby showers, or Tulsi Virani. Yet in an unexpected twist, the Microsoft co-founder is set to make a virtual cameo on the reboot of one of India’s most iconic soap operas, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2.
According to The Times of India, Gates will appear over three episodes, engaging in a heartfelt video conversation with Smriti Irani’s beloved character, Tulsi. The sequence unfolds when Tulsi receives an invitation to her cook’s baby shower, which unexpectedly connects her to one of the world’s most influential figures.
On-screen, Gates will appear as himself, discussing the work of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The conversation aims to spotlight maternal health and the well-being of newborns, merging entertainment with a meaningful social message.
Reports indicate that Smriti Irani initiated this storyline to highlight critical social issues. “Smriti has always believed in using storytelling to drive social change. This time, she wanted to emphasize the health of pregnant women and children,” sources revealed.
This isn’t the first time Irani has leveraged the show for social awareness; previous storylines have addressed women’s empowerment, body positivity, and generational issues. Produced by Ekta Kapoor, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 continues to dominate TRP charts, recently delighting fans with a nostalgic crossover featuring Sakshi Tanwar reprising her role as Parvati Agarwal from Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
This special cameo marks a unique blend of global influence and Indian television, using the platform to inspire awareness and action on key social issues.
