21-02-2022 : Gaurav Gupta, General Secretary CCI today appealed to R.K Singh, Executive Director NHIDCL Jammu to provide adequate parking space for the shops situated along Akhnoor Road stretch between 0 Km to 6 Km.
Chamber’s Gen Secretary led delegation of Akhnoor Road traders called on Executive Director NHIDCL Jammu and projected number of issues which this business community was confronting due to construction of flyover.
Gaurav asserted that there are approximately 500 traders who have been affected due to road widening and flyover work and therefore it is first and foremost requirement that adequate parking slots be provided for those who want to have business dealings with the traders in the aforesaid stretch as with the changed scenario parking has become a big issue. He advised the NHIDCL official to utilize the space underneath the flyover by developing the same as designated parking so that the need to go for specific parking building gets eliminated and the concerned people can utilize the space in the best possible way.
The Chamber’s General Secretary said that developing parking between the pillars of flyover like the case in Delhi and Ludhiana, will resolve the issue to a large extent and no extra cost will be incurred to change the space into parking slots.
After giving a patient hearing, the Executive Director NHIDCL was impressed by the idea and he readily accepted the same for execution.
It is pertinent to mention that the CCI President Arun Gupta had called on Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Raghav Langer about three days ago and discussed the aforesaid issue for finding an early resolution as the construction work on Akhnoor Road was creating hindrances in the businesses of the local traders having shops in the vicinity. As a panacea, the Divisional Commissioner has assured the CCI President that he will arrange a meeting of the Chamber with the NHIDCL officials to sort out the issues regarding the Akhnoor Road traders. Today’s meeting was the follow up of the aforesaid interaction of CCI President with Dr Langar.
