Centre Expands Digital Health Network to Strengthen Rural Care Access

New initiative aims to connect remote regions with advanced telemedicine services

New Delhi, Apr 6: The Central government has accelerated the expansion of its digital health ecosystem to improve healthcare delivery in rural and underserved areas across the country.

Officials said the initiative focuses on strengthening telemedicine infrastructure, enabling patients in remote locations to access consultations from specialists without travelling long distances. The move is part of the broader push to modernise healthcare services through technology-driven solutions.

Under the programme, more health and wellness centres will be digitally linked, ensuring real time medical assistance, electronic health records, and improved diagnostics. Authorities believe this step will significantly reduce the urban rural healthcare gap while enhancing efficiency in public health systems.

The expansion aligns with India’s long-term vision of universal health coverage, with a special emphasis on accessibility, affordability, and quality care.
